Posting bills etc. and defacing property [SOA s.10]

  • Post placard, bill, sticker, document or write/paint/deface a road, bridge, footpath, house, building, hoarding, wall, fence, gate, tree, tree-guard, post, pillar, hydrant, fire-alarm, petrol pump or other structure without authority

Begging or gathering alms [SOA s.49A]

  • Begs or gathers alms

Being disguised with unlawful intent [SOA s.49C]

  • With unlawful intent, be disguised or have article of disguise in possession

Pedestrian improperly cross road [RSRR r.230] - [INFRINGEMENT CODE 2243]

  • Fails to cross by the shortest safe route and stays on road longer than necessary

Pedestrian cross road near crossing [RSRR r.234] - [INFRINGEMENT CODE 2245]

  • Crosses road within 20m of pedestrian crossing (except entering exit bus/tram, safety zone, lawful diagonal cross, in a shared zone or non-vehicle area of road)

Pedestrian cause traffic hazard or obstruction [RSRR r.236]

  • Causes a traffic hazard by moving into path of a driver
  • Unreasonably obstructs path of any driver or another pedestrian

Fail to use footpath (walk along road) [RSRR r.238] - [INFRINGEMENT CODE 2242]

  • Walks on road when an adjacent footpath or nature strip is available and suitable to travel on (does not apply in shared zone)

  • Deposits litter other than in a premises or place provided for waste, or without authority

[SOA s.6]

You may give a move on direction to any person(s) in a public place or part of a public place if you SORG that:

  • The person(s) is/are breaching, or likely to breach, the peace or
  • the person(s) is/are endangering, or likely to endanger, the safety of any other person or
  • the behaviour of the person(s) is likely to cause injury to a person or damage to property or is otherwise a risk to public safety

A direction to move on does not apply to a person(s):

  • Picketing a place of employment
  • Demonstrating or protesting about a particular issue
  • Speaking, bearing or otherwise identifying with a banner, placard or sign or otherwise behaving in a way that is apparently intended to publicise the person's view about a particular issue

A direction to move on may be given orally.

A direction to move on may direct the person(s) not to return to the public place or part of a public place for not more than 24 hours.

s.458 applies where a person continues to contravene a direction to move on. PIN or charge may be issued.
